Oceanside Auto Repair

Why does my vw jetta keep dying?

The VW Jetta requires a strong 12-volt battery to run normally. It assists in powering the accessories, on-board computers, and sensors in addition to providing the high electrical current needed to start the engine. What occurs afterwards if this battery degrades too much?

Here at Oceanside Motorsports, we can find out what’s wrong with our diagnostic testing to ensure you’re only spending money on what needs to be fixed. Most repairs of these items are covered under our lifetime warranty!

  1. Old Battery

The basic rule when it comes to replacing the battery in your car is that you should do so every five years, however occasionally you may need to do so sooner.

  1. Defective alternator

Restart your vehicle. Your car's alternator is probably unable to recharge the battery if you can start the engine, but it promptly shuts off. On the other hand, if you jumpstart the car and later on it fails to start on its own, it's likely a dead battery.

  1. Poor charging system

Loose connections or rusty tensioners can both lead to an inefficient charging system. Imagine a battery that is already undercharged powering the extra car parts that must continue to operate even while the vehicle is not in use. Your battery will ultimately become drained and dead, right?

  1. Excessive draw

When your car's electrical system continues to draw power from the battery even after the engine is completely stopped, this is referred to as parasitic battery drain. This is not what happens when you leave your headlights on or leave the door partially open, causing the light to remain on all night. Instead, this is the case when everything is off, and the battery keeps losing power.
