Why does my Jaguar say restricted performance?
When your Jaguar says, “restricted performance”, what does it mean? Well, when this message appears, this just means that your car’s engine management system has gone into “limp” mode to protect your car’s systems and components. But what exactly caused this?
Here are a few reasons as to why your Jaguar has restricted performance:
- You might have a faulty catalytic converter.
A catalytic converter helps in the filtering out of harmful byproducts in the gasses of your exhaust. The catalytic converter burns these byproducts in order to minimize the toxic fumes. A faulty catalytic converter in your Jaguar can also mean that it may be clogged.
- You have a defective fuel system.
Your Jaguar’s fuel line might have a clog in it, or your pump is faulty. This can cause inadequate delivery of gas to your engine and therefore causing it to overheat and turn off while on the road. It’s important to deal with this ASAP if this is the reason why your Jaguar says, “restricted performance”.
- Your Jaguar has mass airflow problems.
When you have air intake problems, such as air flow leaks, mass airflow issues, intercooler tubing, or throttle body housing, this may cause your engine to stall shortly after starting, or you find it very hard to start your car. With this, you might want to get this checked by your mechanic.
