Symptoms of Failing Turbo Coolant Lines
On the S63 and N63 engines, the Turbo Coolant Lines are in the direct path of the excessive heat that comes off of the engine. Over time the constant heating up and cooling down of the rubber components will result in imminent failure. We have discovered failing Turbo Coolant lines as early as 60,000 miles, and most cases are in serious need of repair by the time they reach 100,000 miles.
Symptoms of Failing Turbo Coolant Lines would include coolant loss, a coolant smell, or sometimes even visible smoke coming from the engine bay. Once the rubber coolant lines begin to fail, the coolant has nowhere to go and leaks onto the hot engine components where it will burn off and smoke. Eventually, a low coolant warning light will emit if the coolant level gets too low, followed by smoke. If these symptoms are ignored, it could cause detrimental damage to your engine by overheating it.
Other times, there are little to no external symptoms of failing Turbo Coolant Lines and we end up discovering that they are failing once we remove the engine covers.
