Engine oil's main function is to lubricate all of your engine's moving parts and lower friction. Without oil, your components would prematurely wear down from metal-to-metal contact, costing you money in repairs. Once the oil leaks are fixed, the N54 and the series of engines have been great and very lasting. However, when oil leaks are not dealt with quickly and expertly, they are not engines that perform well. After owning your BMW for a while, you can start to notice some things aren't functioning as well as they once did. Oil leakage from the engine is one problem you could have.
Common oil leaks are - Valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, and oil pan gasket. Here at Oceanside Motorsports, we offer a lifetime warranty on all of those seals so once you pay for it once you will never pay for it again.
OIL LEAKAGE FROM VALVE COVER GASKET
The valve cover gasket is a thin strip of rubber or cork that creates a tight seal between the valve cover and the cylinder head. The gasket is fragile and prone to harm, thus prolonged exposure to dust, debris, and heat will lead it to brittlely and break over time, losing its ability to stop leaks. Starting at $400, oil leak repairs for BMWs depend on the model and engine configuration. The valve cover gasket, for instance, is a common source of oil leakage in a 2002 BMW 525i. For components and labor, this repair starts at $720. On the other end of the price scale, a valve cover gasket replacement for a 2008 750i will cost between $1,600 and $2,500.
OIL LEAKAGE FROM THE OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET
The oil filter housing gasket is the one oil leak that must be fixed urgently on these engines. On the majority of BMW engines where the oil filter housing connects to the engine block or cylinder head, this rubber gasket seals the oil filter housing to the cylinder head and is one of the most typical sources of oil leaks. Now, why is the oil filter housing gasket leak such a major problem with these engines? In other words, it may cause the engine to fail or suffer significant damage.
OIL LEAKAGE FROM THE OIL PAN GASKET
The oil pan holds all the motor oil that keeps your engine lubricated. The oil pan tends to be a durable part that can last the lifetime of the car. However, a sharp impact with a hard surface at high speed can easily cause the oil pan to start leaking. This condition gets worse as the pan deteriorates. You're running out of time if you notice large puddles of oil instead of light drops. The gasket on the oil pan may also deteriorate. An impact from a rock or a direct hit from the pavement caused by the suspension bottoming out can easily exacerbate the gasket that keeps the oil pan tight. The average cost for a BMW 328i oil pan gasket replacement is between $799 and $1398.

Oil flushes, oil filter changes, oil replacement, consistently checking your engine oil for clarity and fullness, and following up with any leaks or suspicious-looking fluid beneath your car are the basic preventive maintenance for oil leakage of your BMW.
