In the premium sedan category, BMW has long been the top option. Sportiness, driving dynamics, luxury, and comfort aren't something you have to sacrifice because they are the key characteristics that set the BMW 7 series apart. This expensive car has a great driving experience, premium materials, and an attractive look. The basic design remains mostly unchanged from the present model: powertrain options include a twin-turbo V-8 and an inline-six turbocharged engine, with a plug-in hybrid joining the lineup later. We discovered that the 7-series truly floats down the road on our initial test drive. Due to modifications made to the chassis and suspension, including a new rear-wheel steering system, it handles a little more loosely than the 2022 vehicle. The car's standout feature is an optional 31.3-inch back entertainment display called Theater Screen that descends from the ceiling and streams TV and movies using the onboard Wi-Fi connection. Its driver assistance technology offers a hands-free driving mode for long highway drives.
THE SEVENTH GENERATION BMW 7 SERIES (BMW G70)
The BMW 7 Series (G70) has been the new face of the luxury class since 2022, fusing absolute elegance with exceptional driving dynamics and multi-sensory entertainment. The striking front and the uniform design language draw all eyes to the outside. On first look, the two-part, slimline LED headlights and lighted kidney contour lend elegance. On request, a particularly opulent version known as the BMW crystal headlights "Iconic Glow" with backlit Swarovski pieces is also available.
High-end interior furnishings like "Merino" leather, cashmere, and Swarovski crystals create an opulent atmosphere. The result is an impressive interplay of elegance, comfort, and innovation when modern technology is ergonomically designed for the driver. For instance, the multifunctional control element of the BMW Interaction Bar sets a captivating accent with its crystalline appearance and combines visual and haptic controls. This produces a distinctive, multimedia cockpit along with the high-resolution, 14.9" BMW Curved Display.
But the driving experience in the new BMW 7 Series is not just for the driver. Additionally, passengers are in total comfort. A large-scale movie theater ambience is produced by the new 31.3" BMW Theatre Screen. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System's crystal-clear music and 4D audio combine to create a unique rear seat experience that also takes the eyes and ears on a journey.
The high-end sedan is offered with a strong gasoline engine and, starting in 2022, as the first all-electric BMW i7. With a 400 kW output and an all-electric range of more than 600 km (WLTP), you may travel as dynamically and adaptably as possible while remaining locally emission-free. BMW IconicSounds Electric, specially created by Hans Zimmer, add a unique soundscape to each driving mode to make the experience even more immersive and spectacular.
What has changed for 2023?
For the 2023 model year, the 7-series has undergone a thorough redesign and now features an even plusher interior, more cutting-edge technology, and more daring external flair. The 740i only comes with rear-wheel drive and is powered by BMW's incredibly smooth inline-six. We anticipate that the majority of customers will find this model to be more than adequate, but for those looking for all-wheel drive or more power, there is the 760i xDrive, which has a twin-turbo V-8. Both the Executive Lounge package (which includes power-adjustable reclining rear seats with massage features, among other luxuries) and the stylish 31.3-inch Theater Screen rear-seat entertainment system, which can stream content via the car's on-board Wi-Fi hotspot, are recommended if you intend to be chauffeured in your new 7-series. The same body shell will support an all-electric alternative called the i7; we examine that model individually.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
There are a number of enhanced driver-assistance features available, including a new hands-free driving mode for usage on highways and an upgraded parking assistant feature that enables the driver to exit the car and park the car using a smartphone app. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for more details regarding the results of the 7-series' crash tests. Important safety features should include:
- Pedestrian identification in automatic emergency braking standards
- Lane-keeping assistance and the standard lane-departure warning
- Adaptive cruise control with a setting for partially autonomous driving is available
