Why Are My Brakes Squeaking?

Why Are My Brakes Squeaking?

There are a number of things that can lead to squeaking, squealing, or noisy brakes, but we have found a common cause for brakes squeaking to be the usage of low quality or incorrect brake components. The compounds and metals that make up your brake pads and rotors must be capable of handling the repeated abuse and heating up and cooling down of your brake pads and rotors. If your pads and rotors are not of a higher quality, over time those compounds will begin to break down and rub against each other and result in noise. The noises that you may hear coming from your brakes can actually be micro-vibrations coming from the metal to metal contact of your braking components. The micro-vibrations occur at a very high frequency and this is what can result in a high pitched squeal or a squeak while coming to a stop or hitting the brakes. We have a Brake Repair Shop located Near Carlsbad, CA and can inspect and fix your brakes today

A Valve Cover sits on your engine that encapsulates the cylinder head on your engine. Put simply, it covers the top of your engine and conceals your valves while preventing them from spewing oil all over your engine bay. In some models, a crankcase vent valve will be situated within the valve cover itself. Valve Cover Types There are a few different types of valve covers that consist of different materials. There are valve covers composed of metal (both aluminum and magnesium), and many newer cars have valve covers that are plastic. Valve Cover Issues Over time, the mating surface of a valve cover can become compromised and no longer seal as properly as it should. When this happens, we recommend replacing the valve cover and valve cover gasket at the same time. Magnesium valve covers typically do not hold up over time as well as Aluminum and Plastic valve covers. Also, cars that have built in crankcase vent valves are known to require valve cover replacement due to the crankc ... read more
