Why Do I Need to Replace My Rotors?

Why Do I Need to Replace My Rotors?

One thing that is more important than making sure your car can ‘go,’ is making sure that your car can stop; safely and effectively. This question arises while repairing bad brakes components. During a Brake Repair, it is often common to see brake pad wear, and to replace the brake pads once they become low. In a lot of cases, we will notice imperfections in the brake rotors as well and suggest replacement. Like many of your car’s components, your brake pads and rotors are disposal parts that wear down every time your car comes to a stop. By replacing warped rotors not only can we achieve optimal performance and safety while driving, but our brakes will also last longer. What Do Warped Rotors Look Like? Identifying Warped Brake Rotors can sometimes be challenging, and other times be obvious.  A warped rotor will have an uneven mating surface that can develop over time. What Are Turbo Coolant Lines?

What Are Turbo Coolant Lines?

Turbo coolant lines are designed to do exactly what they sound like they would do. They help retain cooler temperatures for the turbo on your car by rerouting coolant through a constant feed and return cycle. Over time, these rubber connecting Turbo hoses can dry out. They will eventually crack and leak coolant since they are constantly being exposed to extremely hot temperatures both internally and externally. It can be commonplace for these Turbo Coolant Hoses to leak for a very long time without any noticeable signs.  This is because the hoses lie beneath a cover, and the coolant will usually dissipate when contacting the hot engine before it can become a visible issue. Applications The Turbo Coolant Lines that we typically come across are found on the S63 and N63 BMW engines. The ‘Hot V Configuration,’ can be found on a variety of BMW V8 cars such as some 5-series and 7-series cars, along with models such as the X5, X6, M5, and M ... read more

BMW Valve Cover: Why do I need to replace it?

BMW Valve Cover: Why do I need to replace it?

In most cases, valve covers look great from first glance. However, as we take a closer look at the condition of a valve cover, we can typically see imperfections in the cover itself. Unfortunately,  this can negatively affect how the valve cover seals on the top of our engine. In this video we took a look at a 1994 BMW E36 325is that was leaking oil from the valve cover gasket due to a failing valve cover   Valve Cover & Gasket Issues As time progresses, a valve cover and the valve cover gasket take on a ton of abuse, because they have to deal with extreme temperatures nearly every time your car is driven. A valve cover gasket can begin to break down and leak oil onto your engine. Additionally, a valve cover can become warped and result in an uneven mating surface, causing oil to leak out of the valve cover gasket and down the side of your engine. This can sometimes be easily fixed by just replacing the valve cover gasket. However, if the valve cover is not replaced ... read more
