What Happens If I Don’t Get An Oil Change?

What Happens If I Don’t Get An Oil Change?

If you are wondering if you need to do an Oil Service on your vehicle as often as you are told to, or even at all, the answer is, YES. We are an Auto Repair shop in Oceanside 92058 that specializes in Oil Service for BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and more. If you are looking for an Oil Change Near Me, we can help! We made quite the discovery when Replacing A Valve Cover Gasket on this BMW and found an unhealthy amount of sludge that had built up inside of the engine. If you don’t change your oil often, or at all, this is one problem that can occur. While it may be easy to Forget To Change Your Oil on time, this repeated negligence can ultimately lead to complete engine failure. When Oil Service intervals are extended (or forgotten about) alongside a lower quality of oil, buildup inside of the engine will continue to grow and expand. Once this carbon and sludge buildup continues on, it will end up in places that it does not belong. The solution for this situation is to clean out as ... read more

Mini Cooper Turbo Oil Feed Line Leak

Mini Cooper Turbo Oil Feed Line Leak

Recently this Mini Cooper came to our auto repair shop with a concerning oil leak. After taking a look at the various areas containing oil leaks, one of the oil leaks on this Mini was found to have originated at the Turbo Oil Feed Line. The Turbo Oil Feed Line transports oil from the base of the engine to the spinning Turbo and keeps everything cool and lubricated while you drive down the road. Over time, the fittings on the old and worn out turbo feed lines will go bad and begin to leak oil. It is essential to replace any leaking components such as these so that the leaking oil does not contaminate other components on the Mini and create further problems. Replacing a leaking turbo oil feed line is unfortunately no easy task. This turbo feed line is tucked deep into the engine bay and sits right alongside the engine block itself. In order to replace it, many pieces of the car need to first be removed such as the bumper, headlights, turbo, and various other components. Once th ... read more

Grinding noise from rear wheel when driving

Grinding noise from rear wheel when driving

Recently, this 2008 BMW X5 owner came to us with a concern that there was a loud grinding noise coming from the car while attempting to drive it. The noise persisted when braking, but also while the vehicle was attempting to drive without the brake on. After receiving one of our free brake inspections nearby, our technician was able to determine that the loud noise was indeed coming from the rear wheel area of the vehicle, which ended up being directly related to the car’s emergency brake. Part of the car’s e-brake system had either broken or come loose which allowed pieces of metal to become dislodged within the inside of the brake caliper. Since these pieces of metal were no longer in their original position, they were sticking out and rubbing against the metal rotor every time that the wheel was trying to rotate. In order to fix something like this, you would need to first remove the wheel, brake caliper, and brake rotor from the car. Once the brake rotor is rem ... read more

E-Brake Doesn’t Work After New Brakes Installed

E-Brake Doesn’t Work After New Brakes Installed

Does the emergency brake on your car no longer work after having fresh brakes installed? This is a fairly common problem that we have noticed happening in a few instances. Put simply, your new brake rotors may be larger than your old brake rotors. While the overall diameter of the rotors might be the same, the inner diameter that your parking brake touches is likely now larger than the original brake rotor diameter, so when your parking brake is pulled, there is nothing for the parking brake shoe to contact. For example, after checking the brake rotors on this BMW 328i we noticed that they were brand new and were in fact the correct part number for this vehicle. However, with that in mind, the inner diameters of the new versus old rotors were in fact different sizes. On your brakes there are parking brake shoes that expand and touch your brake rotors when your parking brake is pulled. When the brake shoes expand, they touch the rotors and create resistance which ensures that ... read more

BMW Grinding Noise, Burning Smell, Won’t Drive, 2013 BMW X3

BMW Grinding Noise, Burning Smell, Won’t Drive, 2013 BMW X3

A recent customer brought this 2013 BMW X3 from their home in Carlsbad into our BMW repair shop in Oceanside, CA, 92058 and mentioned that there was a loud grinding noise coming from the car, accompanied by a burning smell all while the car will not drive with a Check Engine Light on. After performing our free vehicle health inspection, we confirmed the vehicle does not drive freely, and there was definitely a hard grinding noise present when attempting to move the vehicle. Inspection/Findings We put the vehicle on and drove on rack, we were able to recreate the concern. After removing the vehicle’s under panels, we found the front differential had failed entirely and there was a big hole in the side of the casing. This is all resulting in a massive grinding noise when it is engaged. Cause It’s hard to say what the cause was… Whatever happened, it wasn’t good. Initially we thought it might have been caused by blunt f ... read more
